Birthday Boy
3? When did my tiny baby turn into a three-year-old?
The last two weeks have been a blur of work and parties and weddings (well, one down, one to go).
We took time out from all the wedding festivities (I will be posting throughout the week about its many design/craft/food triumphs) on Sunday to celebrate my sweet little boy with a few friends and family. A miniature cake for the birthday boy, cupcakes, and a few balloons set in a big a bowl--that was enough to make it feel like quite a party! I'd had intentions of making a Lego cake or something with the Muppets or Steve Martin (Legos+Muppets+Steve Martin=my kid's holy trinity of delight). But I think it was just right the way it turned out.
And, bam, just like that! When asked how old he is, he went from holding up two little fingers and saying "Still dis many!" to holding up three little fingers and saying. "Three! I will be four on my next birfday."
Melt.

The cutest cake ever! Looking forward to seeing these triumphs!
I love it! Simplicity is the best. What kind of cake? Now I have to go make a cake. With cream cheese frosting.
Looks delicious! In the beginning I swore I would *always* bake my son's birthday cake- the first was a glorious lion, the second a chocolate 5 layer with white icing, the 3rd was from my friend's bakery (he's 8 now, so you can probably see where this is going)
I'm glad I tried, though.
